Hossur road might be famous for all the wrong reasons like traffic jams and road accidents but one good thing about it is the cheap food available by the roadside. Its rustic face might be irritating but if your office is on Hossur road then you are lucky enough to get your lunch at throw-away price.Shanti Sagar located opposite to Nandi Toyota near Bommanahalli is one such heaven where you get a meal at the 80's price. Its not that neat and clean as the road side hotels are supposed to be but you can manage if you carry your own water bottle. They offer two kinds of meals North-Indian and South-Indian along with regular recipies which are common in all restaurants.
North-Indian meal priced at Rs 35 starts with a tomato soup in a not so clean bowl and a masala papad.Followed by this you get two tandoori rotis, two dal,one sabji,a small bowl of veg fried rice, another small bowl of curd rice, pickles and sweet.
South-Indian meal costs Rs 25 where you have the option to go for chapathi or pooris.A large bowl of rice which I swear you cant finish. Then you get sambhar,rasam,sagoo,sabji,curd,butter-milk,pickles and sweet.
The small pooris are awesome as soft as _ , I know u understood.Rasam, sambhar, sagoo and the sabji is served extra if asked at no extra bucks. You have a wide range of sweets to choose from starting from the traditional mysore pak and balusa to cham-cham, rasgoollas and gulab jamoons too.
The hunt for cheap restaurants on Hossur road continues so come back for more updates.
Movies for recession
Why not spice up your recession with some great movies on themes of poverty and pennylessness. Two outstanding movies which I can remember right now are Cinderella Man and The Pursuit Of Happyness.
Cinderella Man is an amazing movie on the life of a heavyweight boxing champion James J Braddock in the backdrop of the great American recession of 1930.Its the story about rise of Braddock from an old loosing boxer to the hope and courage of the people of America. How a poor old boxer finally becomes a man with a magic wand is a treat to watch.
The Pursuit Of Happyness is another movie based on the biography of Chris Gardner. Its the story of a father and son duo and their fight against poverty.
Cheap smoking habits
How much monthly do you pay for smoking ? I think 500-1000 bucks.Cutting down your smoking bill will add up to cash in your hand.I know how hard and painful it is.I understand your pain buddy. You must be smoking a milds or lights or marlboro or something else. Its quite expensive if you count on per day or per month basis.I have a better option for you why not smoke in counters.Usually you dont smoke alone I know. You must be having a smoking partner. Why not share a ciggerette with your partner. If you dont have a partner then you can reduce your bill by switching to some cheaper brands like flake or gold flake otherwise called small in Bangalore.Smoking a small in front of your friends might be embarassing so you can carry on with your regular brands at your workplace or outside with friends but at home you can smoke a small no issues with that. While smoking keep thinking oh yes! I am saving some money that will reduce your pain a bit
As smoking in public places like shopping malls , coffee shops , workplaces is banned so it has reduced the count of ciggerettes you smoke daily.Previously you would go to the smoking zone very often and it had turned into some sort of hangout place. But now smoking zones has no existence. You have to take a long walk outside your office find a suitable place where you can see some smoking species like you and smoke your ciggerette. Its a laborious job and you dont want to repeat it often. Moreover smoking in the roadside under the sun is very uncomfortable and you dont enjoy your ciggerette that much as you used to do in the cozy corners of your smoking zone.So better avoid smoking in public places and make up for the loss at home.
I have one more mean idea of saving some bucks but this you can practice exclusively at home .Many a times you put off a half ciggerette in your ash-tray because you either dont feel like smoking or some urgent work has come up.Why to waste that half better put off that ciggerette with care and put it back in your pack.Use it when you need a quick puff.
Keep tracking for more cheap and mean smoking tips.

As far as Bangalore is concerned cost of living is quite high over here. You buy a cup of tea for Rs 8 , a movie ticket costs you 200 bucks , a south indian thali costs 30-35.Wow. I have thought of some tips which can be quite handy for people over here to survive this so called difficult period.
1.Dont eat out - Bangalore restaurants are not cheap as you know.If you know some food joint where you get a descent veg meal for 15-20 bucks please let me know.So my advice will be that dont eat out.Cook whatever you feel like at home and eat.If you cant cook invite a friend who can cook and ask him to cook at your place and eat together. If you have any pending treats defer them.If are supposed to get some treat from your friends dont be shy to ask.If anyhow you have no option but to eat outside then go for south indian thalis or whatever cheap meals are available.Go on a prowl in you locality for eating places serving cheap meals and have you food there only.
2.Travel by BMTC - If you were using your own vehicle then then cover it well and keep aside.Recession has not yet put its paw on our very dear old BMTC bus fares. So they are the cheapest modes of travel within the city.If you cant travel by BMTC because it looks bad better go for a two wheeler which is fuel efficient. If that doesnt suit you share ride with your friends. But anyhow one good thing is that the petrol prices are going down every day.So travelling will not bother you that much.
3.Dont buy groceries from malls/supermarkets - Prices of your daily commodities will be a bit higher in supermarkets generally. So avoid them.Better compare the prices of rice, dal, sugar, vegetables in your local store and supermarkets.Wisely choose which to buy from where.
4.Avoid shopping - I know you have hell lot of clothes in your closet with which you can survive this recession.Still you go for shopping because its a habbit. Please stop going on shopping spree.Hold on for a few more months. If you are in very much need for some particular clothes wait for the sale.Avoid Shopping malls go for cheap stores or factory seconds.
5.Avoid Mutiplexes - Weekend movies you need to avoid to save some bucks.Weekend movies comes at a cost of 200-500 bucks per person along with popcorns and soft drinks which counts up to a huge amount. So better enjoy movies on your DVD at home.Call in some friends and enjoy together I think it will be a good experience.
6.Changing job - Never think of switching your job right now.Be where you are for another couple of months. If you have no other options then go for a big company which is less affected in recession.Avoid startups and avoid changing your domain.Be cautious during the probation period and give it your best.If you are in bench right know better start searching for a job.If you dont like your current boss please leave all differences aside and put a smiling face whenever you see him next time.
7.Cash reserve - If you have cash reserve dont spend them.Preserve them well and use them only under critical problems.Wisely spend your money.Do some kind of investment.Dont buy luxury items and unnecessary trash.Buy only minimal items for survival.Dont take important decision like buying a house or car i.e things which will eat away a large chunk of your earnings.Dont take loans manage by taking helps from your friends.Always remember cash is king
8.Stocks - Keep away from the stock market. If you are a new investor hold on for some time let the market regain stabilty. If you an old player my advice will be to wait and watch your past stocks grow and fetch some profit.Dont invest more funds in the market as its highly risky.Trade with existing shares.
9.Getting Married - If you are getting married in coming months then please postpone it till things are in place. If you have no other options then go for it but reduce the expenses. If that also you cant afford to do then take my best of luck.
I think 9 valuable tips will help you a lot .For more tips follow my blog.Thanx for taking your time and reading.
